Moondance by Joanna Kenrick and Doffy Weir
Andersen Press 2004
Ages 3-7
Moondance is the story of Teeho, a young tiger. His big sister Terin is very excited about the annual Moondance, 'when all the tigers come together to dance by the light of the eucalyptus moon' but Teeho is too young to join in. Teeho is very cross when he hears he's going to be missing out on the best party of the year! Fortunately, his best friend Quark has an idea - why doesn't Teeho create his very own dance instead? Perhaps when the other tigers see Teeho's dance, they'll realise he's quite old enough to join in. But something much more wonderful happens instead...
